LA FORTUNA

A few summers back, we visited Costa Rica for a destination, beach-front wedding. Following the festivities, we traveled up to the town of La Fortuna. After a 4-hour drive that took us roughly 1,000 feet higher in elevation we found ourselves in the heart of the rain forest. Oh, rain it did . . . and when it didn’t technically rain, the air simply misted. Our first night there, we sat in one the the famous hot-springs and soaked in the warm, mineral-rich waters. As we soaked, we marveled at the sounds of the rain around us. At times all we heard were light, minimal drips/drops near-by on the brick walk. . .minutes later, massive drops beat down on the three-feet long leaves hanging over our heads. . .at others, sheets of rain come down into a stream roughly 30 yards away. . .at others, so much rain fell that much of it blended into a cacophony of white noise.
